Weekend Island-Hopping

Due to the city wide power interruption last Friday night my housemate and I had small talks and some dillydally. Waiting for the power to be restored I fell asleep early that night so the next morning I was awake to early so with my housemate.

Our usual Saturday routines had some changes.
While having coffee and watching TV for breakfast one of our friend sent an SMS telling us that he will be dropping early to borrow hte electric rice cooker and some stuff cause they're heading for a week end stay at Pundaquit in San Antonio, Zambales.

Since we dont have anything to do for the week end, we decided to join my friend (who eventually planned the outing with her college friends) instead of the usual week end scenario in our own houses.

All were set, we arrived in Pundaquit past 3 in the afternoon due to some delays on the road. Over night we planned for what to do the next day and we came up with an island tour.

Early the next day as planned w
e look for some boats to be rented to have an island tour in a place they call Anuwangin. The boat travel took about twenty five minutes in rough waters. At first I was a little bit uneasy riding that boat but when we arrived to the place every cloud in my mind just pop out.
I was stunned with the lagoon of the island. Exploring the sandy shore of Anuwangin and its beautiful scenery and great picturesque of the place. To add with that, we had a chance to be acquainted with Sam Milbey and Bea Alonzo who were both having a film shoot being directed by Loren D. himself.

What a great experience
we had with that fascinating island in Zambales.

Some Good Things Never Last

"In every one of us there are two ruling and directing principles, whose guidance we follow wherever they may lead; the one being an innate desire of pleasure; the other, an acquired judgment which aspires after excellence." - Socrates

We often say that the only constant thing in this world is CHANGE. It is a part of a greater process called evolution, innovation, transformation, and / or anything that tries to make a difference with a goal of achieving something better.

We are greatly influenced with the sports ethic :
NEVER QUIT. As i quote a child in a local television commercial when he feels like being screwed up when he already had and did everything just to be a part of a basketball team her mom always says - " never say die, never loose hope, for tomorrow is another day!". A little bit funny but reality check it has a great impact.

If that game is our career, profession or business we might always think of winning. But the questions of "
should i stay" or "should i kept going?" are the most difficult questions to anyone even to some career counselors or coaches. There is no single answer in particular but to help you ease your burden and to help you decide take some of the following considerations.

1. How did you get into the situation? Were you encouraged by a spouse, parent, friend or mentor? You have a better chance of fulfilling your own dream than someone else's.

2. Is there a little voice in your head that whispers, "Maybe you should be doing X instead?" Listen up, as the sports coaches say, especially if you can put a name on "X" ,and if you've been playing this game awhile. That "little voice" may be your intuition speaking.

3. Does your new venture refuse to go away? If you try to leave your job, do you find yourself getting caught up in a new project or rewarded with a new promotion?

One speaker, accepting a local "Entrepreneur of the Year" award, told the audience, "I hated this business. I tried to sell it but nobody would buy me out. I was forced to fix it up and, in the process, found success."

4. What is the universe telling you?
Are you getting customers?
Is your progress considerably faster or slower than your peers and competitors?
Has anything clicked into place for you, seemingly without effort?

5. What is your own historical trend?
Do you tend to give up too easily or hang on too long?

6. Are you still having fun?
A loss of enthusiasm can be temporary, especially if you're fatigued or have just experienced a setback. Long-term discouragement will create negative energy and ultimately destroy your career or business.

7. Must your decision be either-or?
Can you continue a business part-time with a manager? Can you look for a new job but also start a business? Multi-tasking can fragment energies but also offer unparalleled opportunities.

In every career path you should have to make wise decision. Stop struggling and focus your mind. Set your own goals, objectives and perspective. Most of all take time.

CHOOSE IT

We are now in the middle of the month of MAY. For us working in the academe we usually won't get too much vacation as some students do. Just like now while my students are working with their special project under my Database Management System subject I decided to sit down and write this stuff.

Education is really a continuous process of learning especially to us, -the IT people, for if you stopped you will probably get lost in that avenue of learning which would lead your career to global competitiveness in the electronic and computing world.

During the previous days, enrollment started not only in our college (the College of Computer Studies) but within the different colleges here in Gordon College.

I have been into the academe for quite sometimes, starting my career as a day high teacher to the now college instructor teaching all subjects related to computers and information technology.

During my service to different schools, colleges and universities, Computing and Information Technology courses are amongst the most chosen baccalaureate courses.

For those who just graduated from high school who are having a hard time choosing your courses take my piece of advice, you should have to consider IT related courses not that I'm benchmarking my course but as the demand for electronic computing and information technology grows it would proportionately require greater number of IT skilled workers and professionals.
