Mayo Katorse: Ang Boto Ko

Kamusta sya bilang kapit bahay?

by Lavhie

Tama nga yong kasabihan na “there’s no place like home” kasi laging nasa bahay si nanay, laging nandyan si nanay nag aantay.

—————

Mom is the Home of Life
by Lavhie

Mom is like a "door" that's always open and you're willing to accept and hold.

Mom is like a "window" that always looks over and overlooked for her dear children.

Mom is like a "chair" that's always there when we need a backrest.

Mom is like a "pillar" that if all surrendered, mother is as durable as a pillar can never be buried by the dear family.

Mom is like a "table" at the dining table that's always there ready to listen and accompany you to make your very life's great plan.

Mom is like a "kitchen" that always has hot foods, foods that are healthy, mind and soul.

Mom is like a "bedroom" bed, blanket and cushion ready to embrace you if you are tired and you need a rest in a chaotic world

Mom is the "home", - the race and the one we always go to.

It's a good idea to say "there's no place like home" because my mom is always in the house, she's always there.
———
Today's mothers do not forget to go home, mother is the most special person in our life. The mother is the home who waits for our return home.

Thank you very much to all Mom around the world who have no love and care for their loved ones.

Budget Meal: Ilocos - La Union Experience!

Two weeks ago I got an invitation to join Ilocos Trip. First thing that comes to my mind is to test my endurance in driving. Immediately I planned but one thing hits me back, that is how much fuel will cost me since my car is powered using unleaded gas. Bubbles started to appear as I am thinking who among my friends have diesel powered car and voila! Shyla, a friend of mine owns a truck - a 2017 Ford Ranger! We leave Angeles City by midnight of Friday. We waited for our friends coming all the way from Zambales. We meet them at the SCTEX Clark entry.
Getting ready for the long drive....

There goes Shyla our dear good friend.

Our convoy to north

A quick stop at this landmark in Ilocos Sur.

For those who wish to know, estimated travel time from Angeles City to Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte is about 12-14 hours (we go as far as Pagudpud) this includes quick stop over for photo ops along the way and some refreshments, on our trip we have additional travel time from Ilocos Norte back to Vigan City for another 3-4 hours since we decided to stay overnight in Vigan. As of this writing some parts of Ilocos and La Union have road repairs which will add up to your travel time.

An accommodation named  Manuel's Inn can be found at the heart of Vigan City. We paid our room for three thousand pesos good for 4 pax.

Our estimated expenses shared by the four of us:

Diesel 2,500.00
Toll Fees ( SCTEX - TPLEX) 1,000
Accommodation 3000.00
Total : 6500.00
Individual Sharing for the four of us (Edwin, Lavhie. Shyla and Beth) : 1625.00

Additional personal budget will be your discretion such as for your foods, pasalubongs, and party drinks =)

To my travel buddies Mudra Edwin, Shyla, Beth let's start saving for our next adventure =)

June 2017: A Trip to Palauig Zambales

(L-R: behind me is Erickson, Nam, Dar and Jigs)
I love travelling. I always look forward to long weekend holidays and spend it with friends and make it blasts!

Straight from Baguio City last Sunday, I met up my friends in Olongapo City at night.

Since we really missed each other we decided to go on a road trip (unplanned).

We just hit the road and drove straight ahead to Iba, Zambales at 2:00 o'clock in the morning. Lucky we have Mark who hosted us that time.

Early morning, Mark suggested that we visit a place in Salaza (one of the barrios of Palauig, Zambales) and that started it all.

This is what I really wanted to share with you! That if you want to have a good "nature feel" experience (free of charge) try visiting this place that we have been.

The Magalawa Island Experience

A trip to Magalawa island in Palauig, Zambales is quite an experience. Coming from Olongapo City is an average of two hours drive passing by nine towns of Zambales. Travel time depends of course on your stop overs to experience the picturesque view of the province.

You have two options on how to reach Magalawa island. You may opt to bring your own car or take a commuter bus instead. However, the later would incur longer time travel. Driving your way to Magalawa island, you will off-load to the shores of Barangay Luan in Palauig, Zambales where number of boat offers ride going to the island for php100.00 (two-way trip, pick 'n drop). Safe parking is also available for only php100.00 per day.

There is a community in Magalawa island - a barangay. People were warm and accommodating.  It is good to walk within the island's community as you would meet the friendly locals. Fresh seafood were also available just ask the fishermen usually docked in the shore from 5:00am to 6:00am. People in the island speaks fluent in Filipino, most in Zambal and some in Ilocano.

There were two operating resorts in the island: Armada Resort and Ruiz Resort. Both resorts accepts reservation and walk-in guest and offers flexibility of services from accommodation, food, rafting and snorkeling.

Entrance fee to Armada is php300.00 and for Ruiz it would cost you php100.00. For backpackers who wants to stay outside you can rent a tent for php200.00 per night. Air-conditioned rooms is available in Armada resort and they also offer non-AC rooms but I find their rates a bit pricey. For Ruiz resort "kubo" is available at a reasonable price.

We noticed as we talked to resort owners of Armada Resort being managed by Grace and to Ruiz Resort owned and operated by Mang Molo, the later resort is more budget friendly.  We stayed in Armada resort but I would recommend especially if your budget conscious you stay at Mang Molo's Place - Ruiz Resort.

During our stay in Magalawa, we cooked our own food, there is a small market in the community where you may buy what you need at cheaper price compared to resort's store some fresh seafood is available early morning. Do not forget to bring mosquito repellent and a lot of drinking water. You may seek and borrow kitchen utensils to the resorts.

Another thing that caught my attention is the floating foil packs from junked foods and plastic bags, broken glass buried by the shore and not to forget the long rough and bumpy road.

Experience Magalawa....contact Mang Molo at 0929-467-0505 and Grace at 0920-948-3303.
